How to Manage Expired Pages on a Website

Post by arafatenzo »

Managing expired content is a problem that affects all SEOs, even those who do not deal directly with e-commerce or classifieds sites.

What exactly is expired content?
This term refers to content that is by its nature relevant list of phone numbers in india only for a certain period of time , such as product sheets, offer pages, events, promotions and competitions.

It often happens that webmasters do not take care of this activity, and the resulting problems are, among others:

the deletion of pages without a careful analysis of the possible consequences, both from the indexing and positioning point of view ,
duplication of existing content ,
the retention of out-of-date information that affects the overall quality of the site,
maintaining outdated pages that overload your crawl budget and loading times.
There are essentially three ways to manage expired content: delete the page by giving it a 404 status code, redirect the page, or keep the content on the site.

These three solutions have advantages and disadvantages : let's examine them together.

Generally, when content no longer makes sense, it is removed from the site, generating a 404 error, also known as “ Page not found ”. Although Google, in 2011, stated that 404 errors do not negatively affect the performance of the site in the SERPs, in my opinion, it is essential to manage them, as they make it more difficult for users to find (who may be induced to abandon the site) and cause a waste of resources intended for crawling.
