The procedure for preparing a RACI matrix includes the following steps:
Write down all the tasks that need to be completed within the project in the first column of the table on the left.
List all members of the work team in the top row of the table form.
Enter symbols (R, A, C, I) indicating the roles of the participants into the grid. At this stage, we obtain a ready-made RACI matrix.
When using such an algorithm teacher database of actions, there is a high probability that numerous questions will arise. To avoid unnecessary complications, experts recommend ensuring the following conditions:
First of all, it is necessary to set clear goals and define a specific result that corresponds to the project development strategy, for the achievement of which it is necessary to coordinate the work of several participants. Most often, we are talking about tasks aimed at implementing strategic plans. It is important that the desired results are understandable and measurable. In connection with this condition, the general goal of the strategy cannot be considered as a task.
There is no need to split the project too much and set tasks that are not related to the coordination of actions. With this approach, the RACI matrix will not bring any real benefit. In the case of excessive division, it will be of a general nature, and in the second situation, it will turn into a personal creative plan of a specific performer.
Steps to create a RACI matrix
At the stage of preparation for creating a RACI matrix, it is necessary to identify the main tasks aimed at achieving the planned result. Below is a simplified version of the considered methodology for a separate strategic initiative. Here, only a part of the key tasks, types of work and functions (participants) that are necessary for creating a new company product are indicated.
At the same time, the main idea of the matrix is quite clear:
Key tasks. Activities or solutions to achieve the set goal Strategic goal: Creation of a new product
