In recent years, Building Information Modeling (BIM) has become an important tool in the design and construction industry, especially in complex and demanding sectors such as manufacturing. Large design organizations are faced with the need to adapt to modern challenges and requirements while not lagging behind in achieving their goals.
The introduction of information technologies allows not only to optimize design and construction processes, but also to significantly improve interaction between all project participants, including customers, contractors and operational services. Artem Khodakov, TIM coordinator of the company, spoke about how this process took place in such a large organization as Gazprom Proektirovanie during the June korea phone number BIM breakfast.

In the early 2000s, Autodesk was just beginning to conquer our market with its AutoCAD product, and Gazprom Design designers began using it instead of traditional drawing boards. At that time, significant resources in the company were spent on purchasing equipment and training personnel.
At the end of 2009, Autodesk specialists began offering a new product, Revit, specifically for 3D design. Then, the period between 2010 and 2019 became a period of flourishing of enthusiasts — young people interested in 3D design and often noting the advantages of Revit for creating models of metal structures. In 2018-2019, Gazprom Proektirovaniya began to switch to this product, but only in small projects in the field of architectural and construction solutions. Then the company's specialists realized that they would need more versatile software. So they began to implement Tekla Structures and Aveva products. In the process of gaining experience with foreign software packages, it became clear that they are much more complicated than changing the drawing board to AutoCAD.
In 2021, talks began about switching to domestic software due to sanctions pressure and possible license blocking. During 2021-2022, the company studied domestic software, and at the end of 2022, PJSC Gazprom issued a directive on the transition to domestic software in 2023.
As a result, CADLib was used to coordinate all projects and models , Model Studio CS and nanoCAD were used to develop models , and QGIS was used for geoinformation systems. A plan for the transition to direct 3D design was also developed, including the organization of a single information space, a single catalog of elements and families.
Implementation and internal transformations
As part of the implementation of Russian software in the business processes of Gazprom Design, a roadmap for the transition to direct 3D design was created. Within the framework of this document, 5 subtasks were identified:
Organization of a single space of the information model of the OKS for the entire structure of PJSC Gazprom
Creation of a single catalog of elements, families, etc., so that all branches can use them in their work
Cooperation with vendor "CSoft Development" in order to establish communication within the framework of processing comments on their products
Development of a unified knowledge base and formation of normative and technical documentation
Training employees in the functionality of CAD Model Studio
Artem Khodakov then described the special terminology and employee roles used in the company:
"I would like to touch upon the basic terminology of TIM, as we understand what TIM is. The main result of our work as a designer is an information model of a capital construction project (IM OKS). It consists of the following parts: an engineering digital terrain model (EDTM), where engineering and geodetic, engineering and geological, engineering and hydrometeorological and other data are arranged in layers; a digital information model of a capital construction project (DIM OKS) is a traditional 3D model that combines all engineering and technical and engineering and technological data in a single space. Its part is the digital information model of equipment (DIM O), which we received from the manufacturing plants with the parametric composition we need," the expert explained.
