Those who spend a lot

Post by rifat28dddd »

I decided to re-post from Gazeta.ru about the research on social networks. It seemed interesting:

Study: Social Media Chatting Doesn't Expand Real-Life Social Networks for Adults

of time communicating on social networks do not have many friends offline, this is the conclusion reached by scientists from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, after surveying 117 people aged 18 to 63, writes the Los Angeles Times.

Previous studies on similar topics have been contradictory, with bahamas cell phone number list some data showing that social networking has a negative impact on social connections, while others show that people who spend a lot of time online have a larger social circle than those who spend little time online.

During the study, respondents were asked to fill out an extensive questionnaire about how much time they spend communicating on social networks, how many friends they have made online, and how friendly their relationships are.

It turned out that those who spend a lot of time communicating online do not have many friends offline. At the same time, people who spend a lot of time on the Internet are no better socialized than those who communicate little online.

The average age of the study participants was 28, which the authors believe influenced the final results. For example, the chances of teenagers who are prone to shyness to find friends offline are increased. But for adults, social networking is not very important for stable relationships in real life.

"These means may be less effective in creating and maintaining emotionally intense relationships than other types of connection," the authors conclude.
