Maintaining construction models
Pre-design work
When describing the processes of maintaining construction models, Violetta Volk gave an example of using a system for automated design (note: AutoCAD). This solution was used at the stage of preparatory work, when the design models were not transferred to Severin Development in editable formats.
For such cases, the company has developed and successfully tested a special approach: using plugins, engineers can select elements, types of work, assign dates for their implementation, then record this data in parameters and quickly upload the information saudi arabia phone number to Excel for further calculations.
If the general designer transfers the initial data in editable formats, they are used to close the volumes for the pit, pipes and other elements.
Design solutions
The expert then spoke about the process of developing construction models for design solutions, including monolithic and reinforced concrete structures, as well as metal structures. Here, BIM specialists have the fewest difficulties, because these models are most often transferred in editable formats. The main requirements for models are: no intersections within the model (this helps to eliminate duplication of volumes), a clear understanding of the location of elements, floor breakdown and a code according to the classifier, which greatly speeds up the work and allows the BIM department to connect to the processes on the site in order to configure the model and perform binding to types of work much less often.
Architectural models are often transferred in a detailed form and include masonry, finishing and facades. Violetta Volk noted that most often facades are "closed" by the area of insulation and finishing, and high detailing of elements is not needed, since it creates additional problems when processing the model in verification software (note: Navisworks) due to the fact that facade elements are divided into parent and nested families, and information from parent families is not transferred to nested ones.
Therefore, one layer is taken as a basis, then commands are used to create layers and divide into sections, which allows you to keep track of the work performed and prepare developments for reporting.
Engineering systems
The BIM manager admitted that developing engineering systems based on a construction model is a labor-intensive process, since it is necessary to take into account many small elements, connecting parts, reinforcement, etc. That is why Severin Development engineers keep track of completed work by percentage by floors or rooms, which allows them to quickly calculate the volumes completed.
